New York’s latest modeling wars breaks out

It’s an old-fashioned modeling agency war.

Modeling agents Matt Trust and Gene Kogan — who parted way with famed agency Wilhelmina this summer, seem to be having the latest laugh amid a high-fashion war with their former agency.

The duo landed at New York Model Management and have taken nearly all the male models they repped with them.

“This is bad, very bad. It’s almost everyone,” a source familiar with the situation told Page Six.

On Tuesday, Trust announced their new client roster with a splashy reel on social media — while mocking his former employer. He quoted Wilhelmina’s recent statement to Page Six, explaining they parted ways with the duo because, “they were not the right fit for our organization.”

“Meanwhile, back here on planet freakin’ reality, the organization clearly missed the damn memo and is now shashaying out the gate like it’s making a dramatic exit just in time for the train wreck it scheduled itself into!” he fired back in his post.

Sources previously warned that several models were planning to catwalk away from the famed agency after director Cory Bautista and CFO/COO Guarav Pahwa severed ties with the execs. A fashion source described the situation by saying, “it’s like they’re back at square one. They’ve decimated their entire men’s team.”

We learned last week that two models filed lawsuits against the agency to get out of their contracts.

But Wilhelmina’s lawyer, Matthew Heerde, called the lawsuits “completely meritless and just a cheap trick by a competing modeling agency who wants to take models away from Wilhelmina.”.

Now, we hear, 30 Wilhelmina models — including Alfredo Nemer and Malik Lindo-Ireland, who filed lawsuits to try and get out of their contracts — have indeed fled to competitor New York Models.

Heerde did not comment on the most recent developments.

Trust, on the other hand, wrote, “they are serving fiction darling while we are bringing a splash of Bravo Drama!”

NYC has a rich history of modeling firms at war: Back in the day, Ford and Elite modeling agencies were known for their epic battles in the ’70s and ’80s.

In more recent times, Elite and Women’s Models Management were in a 2019 poaching battle, we reported at the time, and in 2014, Trump Model Management and New York Model Management were battling over clients.
