44-year-old woman killed in NYC hit-and-run by reckless driver turning into driveway
A 44-year-old woman was fatally mowed down by a reckless driver who struck her while turning into a Bronx driveaway before zooming off Wednesday night, police said.
The woman, whose identity was withheld pending her family’s notification, was killed after the SUV driver slammed into her at West 174th Street and Macombs Road in Morris Heights around 11:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The careless driver failed to stop while turning into a driveway on West 174th Street, cops said.
The motorist struck the victim and kept driving, speeding down the long driveway into a back parking lot, according to sources.
The woman was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, roughly two miles away from the crash site, where she was pronounced dead.
Police are still searching for the runaway driver. No arrests have been made, the NYPD said.
Just last month, two separate hit-and-runs in the Bronx and Brooklyn killed two pedestrians and injured three others.
