NJ police chief, sergeant suspended over ‘serious concerns’ in handling of Lauren Semanchik murder



Two top cops in New Jersey have been placed on leave over “serious concerns” in the handling of the murder-suicide that claimed the life of beloved veterinarian Lauren Semanchik and her new boyfriend.

Two cops from the Franklin Township Police Department have been placed on leave following Friday’s shocking murder-suicide.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday that it took over the Franklin Township Police Department less than a week after New Jersey State Lt. Ricardo Santos shot and killed Semanchik, 33, and her new beau Tyler Webb, at her Franklin home Friday night.

Santos then drove 50 miles and took his own life, authorities said.

Franklin police responded to the home on a report of gunshots — but didn’t find the bodies and they were discovered the next day by Semanchik’s father.

Semanchik’s sisters also claimed their slain sibling wanted to file a restraining order against Santos in May, but when she went to the Franklin police station, she didn’t receive help.
Instead she was told to call a number, but when she reached out, she never heard back, they said.

The prosecutor’s office said Franklin Police Chief Timothy Snyder and Sgt. Kevin Bollaro were placed on leave that it would “supervise day-to-day operations of FTPD until further notice.”
