Mulugheta told 105.3 The Fan’s Bobby Belt he approached the Cowboys twice in the past 18 months about a contract extension for Parsons, but was rebuffed on both occasions.

The first time he reached was at the 2024 NFL combine, when the team had its feet dug into the sand regarding contracts with Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb.

With Prescott also forced into a brutally long negotiation that wasn’t signed until right before the season opener, Parsons was put on the back burner until the 2025 offseason.

Mulugheta noted that Parsons was uninterested in any negotiations taking place during the season.

At the 2025 NFL combine, Mulugheta again approached the Cowboys.

This interaction came prior to the massive contracts handed out to fellow star pass rushers TJ Watt of the Steelers and Myles Garrett of the Browns.

Jones previously explained in April that he was uninterested in speaking to any agents.

“The agent is not a factor here or something to worry about. And I don’t know his name,” Jones said on April 1. “The point is, I’m not trying to demean him in any way, but this isn’t about an agent. The agent don’t have one thing to do about what we’re doing when we get on a football field against a team. Micah does. To the degree I’m involved, I do.”

Parsons did not take kindly to Jones’ words, with many calling them disrespectful toward his agent.

“Facts!! David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without David Mulugheta involved! Like anyone with good sense I hired experts for a reason,” Parsons said in an X post.

“There is no one I trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David! There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation.”

Parsons has since demanded a trade and is not practicing with the team, although he is still at training camp to avoid being fined.

Jones said he is not confident that Parsons will play in their Week 1 season opener on Sept. 4 against the defending champion Eagles.
