Soto is a hard-throwing lefty who differs from the softer-tossing left-handed reliever Brooks Raley. Then there is Rogers with his unique submarine style and the lowest average fastball velocity in MLB at 83.3 mph. Finally, there is Helsley at the other end of the spectrum with a fastball that averages 99.3 mph. He also features a slider and curveball.
“We have the ability now with two lefties to really match up early on,” Ryne Stanek told Sports+ this week. “It’s a lot of guys with massively different looks. We’ave got a power lefty and a pitch-ability lefty, we’ve got power arms on the right side just to get the ball to Edwin [Diaz].”
