Amed Rosario’s Yankees arrival: The new and familiar

The trade deadline can be a dizzying time for players that get moved.

But Amed Rosario has been dealt at each of the past three deadlines, so he may be used to it by now. And then when he arrived at Yankee Stadium on Sunday morning, one of the first people he saw was a coach he has known since he was 16.

Luis Rojas didn’t exactly plan to be among the first to greet Rosario in his new workplace, but he ran into his former player who he came up with through the Mets organization and then spent two years with in Queens — including 2020 as his manager.

“We were able to walk in the clubhouse a little bit and helped introduce him to a couple people,” Rojas said a few days later. “He’s very familiar with New York, so he settled pretty quick and he was ready to go right away. … But really happy. He’s still a talented young man. I think he can really help us, so I’m happy that he’s here.”
