Miley Cyrus‘s micro bangs have officially left the building.
The “Flowers” singer, 32, was spotted out and about in New York City on April 21 with a major update to her look. The micro bangs that Cyrus debuted at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on March 2 have been grown out in favor of a longer and more relaxed style.
The star was seen wearing an all-black ensemble consisting of a slouchy, fuzzy ribbed knit tank top, mid-rise flare jeans that hit her at the ankle and open-toe leather sandals. She completed the outfit with oversize blue aviator sunglasses, which framed her new hair cut — a ’70s-inspired curly shag.

Cyrus’ bangs were seen laying much lower on her forehead, framing the glasses perfectly. Instead of the slicked-back ponytail that she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the singer wore her hair down and past her shoulders in effortless waves that framed her face.

For Cyrus’ glamorous night at the Oscars, where she wore a figure-hugging McQueen gown, she initially wore her hair in Old Hollywood-inspired waves.
“I wanted to bring her sexy, chic [Alexander] McQueen dress to life by matching her hair to be super big, sexy and chic as well,” her hairstylist, Bob Recine, told PEOPLE at the time. The hair served as the perfect contrast to her freshly bleached eyebrows — which she debuted that night — and took inspiration from a cartoon character.

“For tonight’s look, I was inspired by fictional character Jessica Rabbit for Miley’s voluminous, marcel waves. I loved her approach to the Oscars this year as she is keeping it youthful and fun but still that high-end, classic Hollywood glam that the Oscars is,” he added.
Cyrus and Recine have worked together for years, with the stylist lovingly calling her a “fashion-forward, edgy and fashion-educated woman.” Together, the team always tries to “really collaborate” on her most show-stopping looks “from head to toe,” the pro gushed.

Before she stepped out at the Vanity Fair party, Recine chopped Cyrus’ baby bangs.
“She trusts me and I trust her,” he continued about his celebrity client. “We always want to create fashion-forward looks that make her feel confident, and she allows me to really go for it.”
