The move makes the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver officially a holdout on the eve of the team’s first training camp practice on Wednesday, as he enters the final season of his three-year, $68.3 million contract.

McLaurin is looking to renegotiate and extend his deal after a year in which he recorded 1,096 receiving yards and a career-best 13 touchdowns as the Commanders reached the NFC title game for the first time since 1991.

Negotiations have not progressed the way McLaurin has hoped for, and he expressed just last week that he was “disappointed” with how things have gone so far.

However, general manager Adam Peters told reporters during a press conference Tuesday morning that they expected “everyone to be here today.”

“Without a doubt, everybody in this building values Terry very much,” Peters said. “We knew that coming in, and we knew that even more after spending a year with him. We’ve had some conversations recently, and we’ll look to have some more conversations. We’re going to do everything we can in order to get a deal done.”

McLaurin is set to make $15 million in 2025 and has a cap hit of $25 million.

The star is facing a $50,000 fine each day of camp he misses. He skipped mandatory minicamp in June amid the contract dispute.

McLaurin insisted that Washington is the place he wants to be when he spoke to reporters last week

“I want to continue my career here. I’ve created my life here. My wife and I bought our first home here. This has been somewhere I’ve always wanted to be,” he said.
