Karlaftis, the 30th overall pick by the Chiefs out of Purdue in the 2022 NFL Draft, has registered 24.5 sacks during his first three seasons, including eight in 16 games last season.

Less than a week earlier, the Chiefs also had inked guard Trey Smith to a four-year extension worth $94 million with $70 million guaranteed, the largest outlay annually in NFL history at the position.

The Chiefs lost to the Eagles in the Super Bowl in February, falling short in their attempt to become the first three-peat champions in the Super Bowl era.
Kansas City will open its 2025 season against the Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
