Chris Martin playfully issues warning to crowd before kiss cam days after Astronomer CEO scandal

Chris Martin playfully issued a warning to the crowd at the Coldplay concert three days after he accidentally exposed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron having an alleged affair with his company’s head of HR.

“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen,” the musician said Saturday during the band’s concert at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis., according to video shared online.

“How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen,” the dad of two told screaming concertgoers.

Martin, 48, laughed before adding: “Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”

His comments come after he unintentionally captured what he thought was a loved-up couple on the kiss cam during their Spheres World Tour show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., last Wednesday.

“Whoa, look at these two,” Martin said as he watched their public displays of action play out.

However, when the couple, who had their arms tightly wrapped around each other, found themselves blown up on the big screen, they immediately hid.

The man — who was later identified as Byron — dropped to the ground while the woman — who was identified as Kristin Cabot — hid her face behind her hands before turning away and running off.

“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” the musician joked, prompting the audience to laugh.

Once they dipped out of view, Martin seemed mortified as he told his fans, “Hope we didn’t do something wrong.”

However, moments later, he seemed to have forgotten all about his embarrassment as he targeted yet another couple. When the kiss cam focused in on another cozied-up pair, he asked them, “OK, now listen, are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?”

After the uncomfortable moment went viral, Andy’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, changed her last name on Facebook before deleting her account entirely.

Once internet sleuths discovered Andy and Cabot’s identities, it was revealed that the former had taken on the role as CEO of Astronomer in July 2023. Cabot, who is divorced, began working at the company in November 2024.

Before their PDA-outing was exposed, Andy had previously praised Cabot’s abilities in an Astronomer press release.

“Kristin’s exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and scaling people strategies will be critical as we continue our rapid trajectory,” he said in the November 2024 statement.

“She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer.”

Meanwhile, Cabot mentioned her boss by name in the press release.

“I prefer to think of my role as people strategy versus traditional human resources, as the real magic happens when you align the people strategy with the business strategy,” Cabot said. “There are plenty of companies out there where a leadership team doesn’t recognize the value that a strong people leader and people team can bring to a company.”

She continued, “It’s not just about benefits or catered lunches. There’s so much more to it, and I was energized in my conversations with Andy and the Astronomer leadership team about the opportunities that exist here.”

The latest scandal isn’t the first time Andy landed in hot water. He was also allegedly called out for lashing out at his employees at his former company and reportedly caused workers to quit.

After Astronomer launched an investigation into the incident, Andy resigned from his position.
