Dylan Dreyer admitted she mainly texted with husband before split
Dylan Dreyer and her estranged husband, Brian Fichera, may have been drifting apart long before they announced their breakup this week.
A few years before Dreyer confirmed her and Fichera’s split on Friday, July 18, the “Today” co-host revealed that she and the former NBC cameraman mainly communicated via text because of their busy and conflicting work schedules.

“Our schedules mean we don’t see each other much, but we text all the time,” Dreyer, 43, admitted in 2022. “Sometimes it’s even easier to have an important or deep conversation via text because we get all our thoughts out without being interrupted.”
Dreyer also claimed that she and Fichera, 38, were able to turn the situation into a positive thing for their relationship.
“We don’t find it impersonal. In fact, just the opposite,” she explained. “We know each other well enough to understand each other’s tone, so a lot gets accomplished through texting!”
Three years later, the “Today” co-host announced that she and Fichera had split up after nearly 13 years of marriage.
“For many years I have shared my family with you all — the highs and lows. The ups and downs. And all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between,” she shared on Instagram.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all,” she continued. “For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”
“We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for another. Thank you as always for your support,” Dreyer concluded.
The Post is told the former couple is still living together while co-parenting their three sons: Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Russell, 3.
A source shared that “there is no divorce set yet,” and Fichera, who is now working as a freelance cameraman, is “taking time off work to focus on family.”
The exes were away together in Lake Tahoe, Calif., for the American Century Championship just days before their breakup announcement.
The “Today” meteorologist competed in the annual celebrity golf tournament last weekend, and Fichera participated as her caddy.
Dreyer later shared pictures of her and her estranged hubby at the event on Instagram.
“One of the best parts of @acchampionship is all the fun that happens off the course! Boat rides, jersey swaps, connecting with friends and making new ones! Thanks for another great year!” she wrote alongside a pic of her smiling ex.
The pair also participated in a celebrity karaoke contest and won second place after singing “Love Shack” by the B-52s.
“SECOND PLACE at American Century Championship (in the celebrity karaoke contest)! Love Shack baby!” Dreyer shared on Instagram. “What a fun night!”
Dreyer and Fichera tied the knot in October 2012, and the NBC television personality shared a sweet tribute on their 12th anniversary last year.
“12 years of marriage and I’m still in my happy place. Sitting on the couch with @fishlense,” she wrote at the time. “After I took this picture, Brian pointed out that I posted the same thing 2 years ago!”
“Not much has changed and I wouldn’t change a thing,” Dreyer added. “Love you Bri!”
But fans began to speculate that something was amiss with Dreyer and Fichera’s marriage back in May when he suddenly stopped posting to social media.
Those concerns were temporarily squashed when Dreyer shared some pics of herself, Fichera and their three kids on Mother’s Day, and again in June when the “Today” co-host shared more photos to celebrate Father’s Day.
“Took the kids to the @redsox game…in the living room. But we needed tickets. Happy Father’s Day Bri!” Dreyer posted on June 15.
On Friday, Dreyer appeared on “Today” without her wedding ring.
