Bachelor in Paradise is finally back, and this season, the beach looks a lot different than it did in the past…
Over the years, the Mexico beach that the Bachelor franchise’s summer spin-off filmed at — with its colorful daybeds, famous beach bar, and intimate villas — became a character of its own on the show. But after Bachelor in Paradise took a year-long hiatus, new showrunner Scott Teti decided to make several major changes to celebrate its milestone tenth season, including its filming location.

On top of new Paradise Relations head Hannah Brown joining host Jesse Palmer and bartender Wells Adams for some fun in the sun, Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 will include Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette alum for the first time ever, feature new contestant challenges, and introduce a number of other major twists.
Crucially, Season 10 will also bless contestants with air conditioning in their new digs. So where was Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 filmed? What do we know about the Azura Beach Resort in Costa Rica? And for old time’s sake, where was Bachelor in Paradise filmed in past seasons? We’ve got answers.
Here’s everything to know about Bachelor in Paradise filming locations past and present.
Where Did Bachelor in Paradise Used To Be Filmed?
As noted in a previous article, Bachelor in Paradise Season 1 reportedly filmed in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico, where contestants roomed at the Casa Palapa Resort. The beach that longtime Paradise fans know and love, however, was the Playa Escondida Resort in Sayulita, a city in Vallarta-Nayarit, Mexico. Bachelor in Paradise Season 2 through Season 9 filmed at the Playa Escondita, and a visit to the resort’s website will take you back to the memory-filled beach before you head to Costa Rica for Bachelor in Paradise Season 10.
Where Was Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 Filmed?
Instead of returning to its signature Mexico beach, Paradise filmed its tenth season in Costa Rica, specifically at the Azura Beach Resort.
“The hotel is more upscale and has a sexy chicness to it that feels more elevated than the traditional kind of Paradise world that we’ve been in,” Teti told Entertainment Weekly. “The cast can literally open the doors to their rooms and swim out into the pool under bridges, and then up to a beautiful bar that is touching the beach. It has amazing views. The beach itself is private and unique. There’s a beautiful island right off it with a bunch of fishing boats that surround it every day, with a quaint little town right next door, but not a ton of foot traffic. It feels remote and upscale and sexy at the same time.”

Want to learn more about Paradise‘s new digs? The Azura Beach Resort’s website has a wealth of information about the inclusive, adults-only resort, including intel on suites, pricing, pools, local activities, restaurants, and more.
“Hotel Azura is an oasis of relaxation located at the end of the secluded bay at Samara Beach in Costa Rica, discover a new definition of an All-Inclusive beachfront luxury resort that will exceed your expectations as you find yourself surrounded by lush vegetation, a golden coast and the tranquil waters of the Pacific Ocean. Explore & create your own epic adventure while enjoying the Pura Vida lifestyle that Azura has to offer,” the restort’s website explains.
Listed tours and activities in Samara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, include ATV jungle tours, surf lessons, a coffee tour, horseback riding, waterfall tours, paddle boarding, Sámara zip lining, and more, so hopefully we’ll see some extra exciting Paradise dates this season. When contestants aren’t on one-on-ones, they’ll also have access to the beach, swim-up suites, Wells’ pool bar, and more luxury amenities that will help set the mood.
At first glance, pampered Azura Beach Resort life definitely appears sexier than the sweaty Playa Escondida Paradise life, but will the new filming location have a strong enough character to enhance the series like the old beach did? Tune in to find out!
