A Moment Of Silence For The God-Awful Extensions Worn By Judy Greer In
Mama, a terrible wig on your head!
Judy Greer, girl, we love you always, but when we tuned into Stick Episode 7 (“Dreams Never Remembered”) this week, a jump scare moment involving your fake extensions got us good.

In the newest episode of the Apple TV+ comedy, as Pryce (Owen Wilson) is imagining how different his life would look if he and Amber-Linn (Greer) did not lose their young son Jett and split shortly after, the hair and makeup department decided to have a field day with the extensions they put in for a younger version of Amber-Linn.
In one moment, Greer’s character enters a flooded bathroom to find her husband and son crouched down and examining a dinosaur toy that was wreaking havoc on the plumbing as Jett had stuffed it into the toilet bowl. The moment perfectly personifies what it’s like to have a young child who doesn’t understand how anything works, especially as Pryce tells Amber-Linn there is a “brontosaurus stuck in the toilet,” she responds, “again?”
Unfortunately for her costars and her own acting capabilities, the true scene stealer here is the bleach blonde pieces of hair attached to her head. It would be one thing if the pieces matched or if they went with a full wig, but there’s something so beautiful and touching about them snapping in different colored extensions and calling it a day.
By middle age, though, the hairstyles get shorter? A bob or a lob (long bob) is the marker in a woman’s life on television that they are a mother, first and foremost. I call this the “Claire Dunphy effect.” You just know Claire, played by the incomparable Julie Bowen, was rocking with long hair when she was younger, but never sports hair past her collarbone in the series.
At the heart of this moment is the age-old concept of a woman’s hair getting shorter to show the passage of time. A TV classic, right? Young girls? They can have whatever hairstyle they like. Teens and young women, though? That’s long hair all the way. How else will they show that they are youthful if not by displaying long and lustrous locks?
I didn’t even mention that earlier in the episode, right around Jett being four (roughly the age he died), we see Amber-Linn walking in on Jett and Pryce playing in the living room. As she heads out to yoga, she is sporting some truly thought-provoking curtain bangs a la Sabrina Carpenter. The good news: this hairpiece at least matches the top of her head! Bad news: she’s still wearing the practically-white extensions, but they’re pulled back into a ponytail.
This is completely inconsequential, yes, but I’m absolutely in love with this show and examine every moment thoroughly. It’s truly such a sweet and heartfelt show and an actually funny comedy, so I’m eating up and rewatching every moment and I just needed to kiki over this hairstyling choice in an otherwise perfect episode.
