Nets make decision on qualifying offer for Cam Thomas, two others

Brooklyn did not extend qualifying offers to either Ziaire Williams or Day’Ron Sharpe, meaning both are now unrestricted free agents.

But the Nets are interested in re-signing both, according to sources close to the situation.
The sides can still work out a deal later with few teams other than Detroit having legitimate cap space.
Thomas will now become a restricted free agent and have a cap hold of $12 million.
Not extending qualifying offers to Sharpe or Williams just gives Brooklyn more cap flexibility to use in free agency, either taking on salary dumps to acquire assets or perhaps pursuing free agents like Santi Aldama.
The move implies there is at least one more shoe to drop.
The Nets now have $45 million in cap space, and could easily push that to $52 million if needed.
