Lila Evans is paying tribute to her late sister, Eva Evans, one year after she died by suicide at age 29 on April 20, 2024.
In a recent post shared on Instagram, Lila uploaded a carousel of color-filled, symbolic images alongside a lengthy caption in honor of Eva and her positive spirit.
“Spanish word of the day: Mushroom,” Lila’s caption began, featuring a slideshow of photos taken in nature — including a beautiful desert scape, a vibrant orange sunset, friends smiling and hugging, a poster of a mushroom and a gifted book signed by Eva.
“When i moved into an apartment with my sister, @itsevaevans, she gave me the coffee table book, “living in color,” inscribed (last slide): ‘Lilabadila, Your light could fill the barest of rooms with color. i’m so lucky and excited to make a home with you! i am truly living in (and with) color. xoxo… love you sooooo much, E,'” the caption continued.

“I do think a lot about color, practically, but as of late, i’ve lost a bit of that light, at least in the way that i think eva meant. & in this book she gave me, there’s a Gertrude Stein quote,” wrote Lila, who then shared the passage.
“‘Every room has its gloom, the great thing is to find the color that will cut the gloom’,” the quote read.
Lila explained, “Throughout our Oaxacan days, Roland regaled us with ‘spanish words of the day,’ told with native expertise that had us all doubled over in laughter. on our last day, i serendipitously saw a poster, which included one such spanish-word-of-the-day.”
In reference to the mushroom poster pictured in her Instagram carousel, Lila recalled what the message on the sign said and explained the meaning behind it.
“‘How much room does someone need to grow? as mushroom as possible,’ 🍄” the sign said.
Lila concluded, “All this to say that – it’s been a pleasure to find ways to cut the gloom, see synchronicities, find light, & live in MUSH more color.”

“So if YOU are feeling gloomy, especially if you’re a friend of eva’s & feeling it extra as we near the one year anniversary of her loss, we’re sending you colors 💌🧡💙❤️💛🩷💚💜🤍,” she wrote.
Eva was known as a TikTok personality with more than 300,000 followers on the popular social media platform. Her content covered a range of topics including breakups and reviews of her TikTok purchases.
The late influencer was also the creator of Club Rat, a show that began as a TikTok series in 2023 before it was made available on Prime Video.
In a TikTok clip from March 2024, Eva opened up about her own mental health on the platform, saying she began therapy when she was 16.
“When I was 16 I was forcibly taken to a wilderness therapy program and spent almost a year in treatment centers,” she wrote in the caption. “Today, I’m a filmmaker and I developed a TV show based on my experience :).”
Lila announced the news of the TikToker’s death via Instagram on April 21, one day after her passing.

“Please share this post so that it reaches everyone it needs to,” Lila wrote at the time. “Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died. after 24 hours, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be.”
Lila later continued in her post: “I wish I had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what I don’t,” Lila continued. “I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be without her.”
She concluded, “All my love, Lila.”
