A$AP Rocky says his mother convinced him to date Rihanna: ‘Mothers know best’

Mothers always know best.

A$AP Rocky revealed his mother Renee Black told him to date Rihanna long before she became the rapper’s partner and the mother of his children.

“My mother used to say s–t like, ‘I know you like this girl that you [are] with right now’ — I ain’t gon’ say no names — ‘but I want you with RiRi,’” he said on Thursday’s episode of The New York Times’ “Popcast.”

“It’s like, ‘Ma, why you keep saying that? That girl don’t even want me like that,’” he said.

“Mothers know best,” he said, adding: “I’m thankful that [Rihanna] was put in my life at that time because any time prior to that I don’t think I was ready for something like that. I don’t think she was either.”

Rocky, 37, and Rihanna, also 37, were longtime friends for nearly a decade before they decided to make things romantic in 2020.

However, elsewhere in his interview, the “ASAP Forever” star said the singer “was always my boo,” and he “always f—ed with her.”

“We were on the same page. Born the same year. My dad is from her country … When I go back, I get to see both sides of my family. It’s so many similarities, it’s just funny. We laugh about it a lot,” he said of their similarities.

The couple has welcomed three children together since the start of their relationship: sons RZA Athelston, 3, and Riot Rose, 2; and 4-month-old daughter Rocki Irish.

And it seems that the parents aren’t done expanding their family yet. Earlier this week, Rihanna hinted that she’s ready to bring in baby No. 4.

The “Love on the Brain” hitmaker was spotted in the comments section under “Love Island” alum Montana Brown’s post questioning if she wanted to “get hot and sexy or get pregnant in 2026.”

“Wait! So I’m not crazy then? Bet!” the “Umbrella” singer commented on Brown’s post.
