The left’s silence on Iran: Letters

The Issue: Silence from the left on deadly protests in Iran against the Islamic Republic government.

Now that everyday people are rioting for change in Iran and dancing in the streets of Venezuela, where are the participants from the “No Kings” rallies? Shouldn’t they be lifting a glass in celebration right now (“Protesters’ lives hang in the balance,” Jan. 15)?

Not too long ago, we saw signs that read: “Free Palestine” and “Queers for Palestine.” Why are all these people so silent now?

So Muslims are being slaughtered by their own leaders in Iran, and there’s not a word of outrage from the usual suspects on the left. Is anyone out there shocked?

The anti-Israel “social justice warriors” are putting their hypocrisy on full display.

In Iran, thousands of civilians valiantly protesting Tehran’s monstrous Islamist dictatorship have been slaughtered. Yet no Hollywood stars at the Golden Globes or college students in encampments have been expressing solidarity with these brave people yearning to be free of oppression, misogyny and intolerance.

Let me get this straight: Trump supports Iranians’ right to protest, but would send the military to stop Americans from protesting?

The deaths in Iran inflicted by the Islamist regime are being met with silence from the radical leftists who, for two years, have been demonstrating, intimidating and harassing pro-Israel Jews and others with chants of “genocide” in Gaza.

Clearly, these groups have one agenda, and it’s certainly not humanitarianism. Rather, with political leaders like Mayor Mamdani, they are calling for the eradication of Israel.

Since late December, thousands of protesters have been murdered in Iran. Yet there is a deafening silence on university and college campuses and elsewhere.

No mass protests over the slaughter and suffering in Iran on the streets of New York City or anywhere in America. No endless “human rights” encampments.

Why nothing? The reason is simple. No Jews, no news.

The Issue: President Trump condemning antisemites claiming to be Republican or part of MAGA.

I and many other Post readers join President Trump in abhorring haters (“Don ‘abhors’ haters,” Jan. 13).

Two well-known haters, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, have received special recognition recently as persistent and relentless haters of Jews and of Israel.

Having been fired by Fox News, Tucker Carlson apparently sold himself to Qatar as a hater of Jewish people and the state of Israel.

The awful Candace Owens, for her part, seemingly just spews her hatred for click bait.

I used to think Candace Owens was pretty. That is, before she turned pretty ugly, and before she turned so hateful toward the Jewish people.

What motivated her to do so? Did a person of the Jewish faith do something so heinous to her that she turned on all of us?

Hate makes you ugly. It emanates from inside; that’s why Candace is pretty ugly.

It appears as if Candace Owens has become the new Joseph Goebbels.

When arsonist Stephen Pittman burns down a Mississippi synagogue and compares it to a “synagogue of Satan” — a typical Owens phrase — it’s time to recognize just how vile she is.
