Giants’ Charlie Bullen to interview for Cowboys defensive coordintor job
Charlie Bullen made an impression in his five games as the Giants interim defensive coordinator and he will get a chance to gain a full-time title. That chance will come from the rival Cowboys.
The request has been put in by the Cowboys and the Giants cannot block this lateral move, as Bullen was in the role on an interim basis.

This is quite an accomplishment for Bullen, considering he was an outside linebackers coach with no previous experience as a defensive play-caller when he was promoted by interim head coach Mike Kafka 12 games into the 2025 season after Kafka dismissed Shane Bowen, two games after Kafka replaced the fired Brian Daboll.
Bullen, 41, added a more aggressive approach and that greatly benefitted rookie Abdul Carter, whose production picked up noticeably with Bullen calling the shots. Carter had 3.5 sacks in the final five games after managing only one-half sack in the season opener and nothing after that, although Carter was a consistent pressure-applier on opposing quarterbacks.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus after a disappointing 7-9 season. The Cowboys were last in the NFL in points allowed and 30th in yards-per-game allowed.
They are looking for their fourth defensive coordinator in as many years. They have already met with seven candidates, and soon Bullen will get his shot.
Daboll, who will interview Friday for the Titans head coach position, is expected to be on the short list for the vacant Eagles offensive coordinator job.
