Joy Behar Slams President Trump For Trying To “Intervene” In Iran Protests Despite Ongoing ICE Protests: “America First, What Happened To That?”
As anti-ICE protests continue breaking out across the United States, Joy Behar slammed President Trump on The View for setting his sights on Iran and attempting to “intervene” in the violent anti-government protests there.
“My favorite part about this is Trump is worried about protesters in Iran,” Behar ranted during Tuesday’s (Jan. 13) broadcast. “He’s ready to go take on the government in Iran to protect the protesters in Iran but not in this country.” Behar is referring to the recent news that Trump is threatening Iran with a “strong” military response if more demonstrators are killed, per NPR.

“America first, what happened to that?” she demanded, prompting an applause from the audience.
Sunny Hostin explained the “remarkable” news that anti-government protests have broken out in Iran, “which is something you don’t generally see in that country.” As she and Behar noted that over 500 protesters have been killed so far in Iran, Hostin commented, “The notion that this president is somehow now concerned – the same president who said he wanted permission to shoot protesters in the legs – now somehow wants to intervene in geopolitics in Iran.”
Hostin’s point prompted Behar to snap about Trump’s followers.

“Who is following him anymore?” she asked. “Who likes him? Who? Who are you? How much more does he have to do? God.”
The View hosts were once again discussing the recent death of Renee Nicole Good, who was killed by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. Just last week, Behar wondered if this was a sign that we are in the “middle of fascist America.”
She then rattled off a list of the things the Trump administration accomplished in that week alone, saying it was evidence of fascism.
“Just this last week — I’m just going to give you a summary of what we’ve been through [in] one week — Pete Hegseth started an illegal war for oil in Venezuela, Stephen Miller threatened a military takeover of Greenland, RFK Jr. slashed childhood recommendations, and ICE shot and killed a United States citizen in Minneapolis,” Behar listed. “That sort of adds up to me like a dictatorship in the making.”
After Whoopi Goldberg commented, “We’re in it, baby,” Behar warned viewers, “We are now in it. We are in it now.”
“American people, I think, have to wake up to this a little bit more than we are,” she said. “We try very hard to give you what we know but people have to start reading and watching and paying attention a little bit more than we have.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
