Brian Daboll to interview for Titans coaching opening after Giants firing
Brian Daboll wanted to work with Cam Ward, but never got the opportunity to do so with the Giants. Perhaps Daboll will get that chance with a different team, as he will interview Friday for the vacant Titans head coaching job, The Post confirmed.
Daboll was fired by the Giants 10 games into the 2025 season, with a record of 2-8, coming off a 3-14 season in 2024.

He was the NFL’s Coach of the Year in 2022 for guiding the Giants to a record of 9-7-1 in the regular season and winning the first playoff game for the Giants since 2016. Daboll was 20-40-1 in the regular season during his three-plus seasons.
In the lead-up to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants were all-in on selecting a quarterback and they had Ward as No. 1 in the class. They courted him, researched him and were on the scene at his Pro Day at the University of Miami. But they could not get him, as the Titans did not trade their No. 1 overall pick and used it to select Ward.
The Giants took edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 3 and later landed their quarterback when general manager Joe Schoen traded with the Texans to get back up into the first round to pick Jaxson Dart at No. 25 overall.

Daboll is known for his offensive scheme and especially his ability to work with and develop quarterbacks.
Ward went through an uneven rookie season, and, like Dart, endured a change with his head coach. Brian Callahan was fired with the Titans at 1-5 and interim Mike McCoy went 2-9.
Ward was 3-14 as a starter, completing only 59.8 percent of his passes, with 17 total touchdowns (15 passing, two rushing) and seven interceptions for a passer rating of 80.2.

Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi, starting his second year on the job, has cast a wide net in the search for his next head coach, as the Titans have been linked to 17 potential candidates. They have already interviewed McCoy, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.
The Titans also have scheduled interviews with former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, former Packers and Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and former Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. They also expect to meet with several coordinators who are still coaching teams in the playoffs.
So, there will be stiff competition for Daboll to land this head coaching job. He is expected to be a strong candidate for one of the many offensive coordinator positions that are open across the league.
At this point, the Titans are the only team to request to meet with Daboll for a head coach role.
