“I married my dog for my 50th birthday,” the former child star, who turned 50 on Jan. 8, tweeted on Saturday. “BLESS!”
The X post included four Polaroid pictures showcasing the backyard ceremony, Lewis in a wedding dress, and two rainbow-striped birthday/wedding cakes with the words “JL50!” and “For BETTER or for WORSE I do!” written in orange and white icing across their fronts.
Consequence Daily, an entertainment outlet covering music and pop culture, shared a closer look at the “Psychos” singer and her cockapoo’s big day in an Instagram post on Monday.
Those photos showed the “Let Me Back In” hitmaker dressed up in her white wedding dress while holding a red-and-pink bouquet in one hand and Bobby Rhubarb by the leash in the other.
Fans rushed to social media to congratulate Lewis and share some light-hearted dog jokes.
“I now pronounce you woman & woof,” one person wrote underneath the rhythm guitarist’s initial X post.
“Bad news: Dogs get the seven-year itch almost immediately,” commented another. “Good news: It can easily be cured with belly scratches.”
“Muzzle Tov,” commented a third, while a fourth joked, “Remember he gets half of everything.”
Lewis and her cockapoo were said to be joined by their close friends Morgan Nagler, Dave Scher and Alex Greenwald for the festivities.
Ben Gibbard, who made up the former indie pop group The Postal Service alongside Lewis and Jimmy Tamborello, was also reportedly in attendance and performed “Such Great Heights” with the birthday girl.
As for Bobby Rhubarb, this wouldn’t be the first time the pup has been in the spotlight.
Lewis previously sang about her beloved pooch in her hit 2021 track “Puppy and a Truck,” which was re-released most recently on her 2023 solo album “Joy’All.”
“Like a shot of good luck / I got a puppy and a truck,” the “Nice as F–k” member sang. “If you feel like giving up / Shut up / Get a puppy and a truck.”
Although the “Wizard” star has never been married, she was in a long-term relationship with “Boy Meets World” alum Blake Sennett, 52, after the pair formed Rilo Kiley together in Los Angeles in 1998.
The couple, however, broke up around 2002, and Rilo Kiley later split in 2011 before reuniting last May for the band’s first tour in 17 years.
Lewis, meanwhile, opened up about adopting Bobby Rhubarb during a candid chat with Rolling Stone a few years ago.
“I was in a really rough spot. I’d been isolated for over a year, quarantining totally on my own, and I had to find things to get me out of the house,” she told the outlet in 2023.
“I don’t have any kids, but this dog opened me up in so many ways – being responsible for a soul and caring for something outside of yourself,” Lewis continued. “It’s been a really important lesson for me. Kind of obvious, I guess, but I had no idea.”
The “Barking at the Moon” singer added that while she “had fantasies of owning a white wolf,” she “ended up with a cockapoo” instead.
