The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner shared a clip on X of the moment, which was caused by someone from the catering team who accidentally knocked over a lit sterno.
“Crisis averted inside #GoldenGlobes backstage press room as catering knocked over a coffee holder and the sterno underneath was lit,” Gardner wrote.
“For a brief moment, the carpet was on fire and smoke wafted up around the curtains,” the journalist added. “They put it out quickly fortunately. Yikes!”
Page Six has reached out to the Golden Globes for comment.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards honored the best in film and television in 2025.
Some of the night’s biggest winners included Timothée Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” Teyana Taylor for “One Battle After Another,” Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent,” Noah Wyle for “The Pitt,” Seth Rogen for “The Studio” and Jean Smart for “Hacks.”
Glaser, 41, emceed the show for the second year in a row and delivered an epic monologue where she roasted the star-studded crowd.
One of Glaser’s earliest — and most daring — jokes had to do with the late Jeffrey Epstein and his ties to the celebrity world.
“I cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight, it’s insane. There’s so many A-listers … and by ‘A-listers’ I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted,’” the comedian quipped.
“Yes, and the Golden Globe for best editing goes to … the Justice Department. Yes, congratulations,” Glaser added to a roaring crowd.
She also roasted best actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio for dating younger women.
“You’ve worked with every great director. You’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar,” she told DiCaprio, 51. “The most impressive thing is that you’ve been able to accomplish all of this before your girlfriend turned 30. It’s just insane.”
DiCaprio took the joke in stride, laughing along with the rest of the audience.
The comedian also took aim at Timothée Chalamet, as she said of his role in “Marty Supreme,” “Timothée Chalamet is the first actor in history to have to put on muscle for a movie about ping pong. He gained over 60 ounces. It’s insane.”
Shortly before the Golden Globes, Glaser revealed that she practiced her opening monologue a whopping 93 times.
“We’re constantly making edits, trying to top jokes, trying to just strike the right note and tone for the evening,” she said in an interview with E! on the red carpet.
“But a lot of work has gone into it,” she added. “I really think I might go a little wild, because I’m so cozy with it.”
