Teyana Taylor Already Won the Golden Globes With Her Powerful Speech: “Our Dreams Deserve Space”
Teyana Taylor delivered an emotional, rousing acceptance speech after she won her first-ever Golden Globe award, for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, for One Battle After Another at the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday night.
Taylor was visibly shocked when her named was called out as the winner, for her role as Perfidia in the critically-acclaimed Paul Thomas Anderson movie. She took the stage, shaking, but still playful as she flashed the audience the backside of her dress, where a bedazzled belt was tastefully draped over her exposed butt.

“Wait til you see my party in the back,” she joked. She fought back sobs as shouted out her children watching at home. “Y’all better be off those damn phones and watching me right now!”
Taylor went on to say that she almost didn’t even write a speech, because she was so sure she wouldn’t win. But that’s hard believe, considering she went on to give one of the most powerful speech of the night, not even thirty minutes into the night.
After thanking her parents, her friends, her team, and Paul “Let Him Cook” Thomas Anderson—and after a quick, bleeped swear word, because “this sh– [the award] is heavy”—Taylor got serious, with a message for young black girl.
“To my brown sisters and little brown girls nominated tonight, our softness is not a liability,” Taylor said, her voice firm. “Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
Needless to say, the crowd went wild. Taylor’s young co-star in the film, Chase Infiniti, cheered wildly as Taylor exited the stage.
Written and directed by Anderson, One Battle After Another is based on the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the film as Bob Ferguson, a former revolutionary who’s forced back in the game when his baby daughter is in danger. He has a little help from his revolutionary friends, thankfully. You can stream the movie now on HBO Max.
