George, 35, is coming off a disappointing first season in Philadelphia after signing a four-year, $212 million deal with the franchise in free agency last summer.

The nine-time NBA All-Star played in just 41 games last season, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

In mid-March, George was shut down for the rest of the regular season after he was given injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee.

At one during the season, George stepped away from his popular “Podcast P with Paul George,” to focus on the season and his health.

“I haven’t been the healthiest, so it’s just been putting a ton of work towards getting my body as healthy as possible, and to keep focus of obviously being here and trying to turn things around here and the full focus is trying to get this team together,” George said about the decision.

With George in and out of the lineup, the 76ers were among the most disappointing teams in the NBA, finishing 13th in the Eastern Conference at 24-58.

Shortly before George was sidelined for the season, Sixers star Joel Embiid was shut down with a nagging knee injury, deciding to turn his focus to the 2025-26 NBA season.

This offseason, Philadelphia added Baylor star V.J. Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick in June’s draft to join George, Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
