76ers’ Jared McCain suffers injury while working out

The injury bug just won’t leave the 76ers alone.

Second-year guard Jared McCain suffered a UCL tear in his right thumb during a workout Thursday, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, adding to the long list of injuries that have hampered Philadelphia in recent years.

McCain and the Sixers “are working with specialists to decide how they will proceed,” Bontemps added.

The Duke product impressed during limited action during his rookie season, averaging 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists on a solid 38.3 percent from 3.

But McCain’s season was cut short after he tore his left meniscus in January.

The new injury comes just one day after McCain made light of a viral post poking fun of him as he posed in the Sixers’ throwback Allen Iverson-era uniforms while sitting on a bench with 2.5-pound weights on each of the bars.

On Wednesday, McCain joked on his Instagram story, writing “Working on it” before posting a video of him doing bicep curls with an 8-pound dumbbell.

McCain’s injury is all too familiar for the 76ers.

Last season, former NBA MVP Joel Embiid was limited to just 19 games with continued left knee issues.

Paul George, who underwent a surprise arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in July after injuring it in a workout, played in only 41 games during his first season in Philadelphia.

Tyrese Maxey missed the final month-and-a-half of the season with a finger tendon injury.

Despite coming into last season with championship aspirations, the 76ers went 24-58, the fifth-worst record in the NBA.

The injury statuses of Embiid and George are expected to become clearter on Friday when the Sixers hold their annual media day.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
