Anderson .Paak is in the studio with Mariah Carey.
The singer-songwriter and producer, 39, appeared on Track Star* on Friday, May 2. The program is a social media series in which strangers and celebrities are asked to name the mystery songs that host Jack Coyne plays for them. In his interview with Coyne, .Paak sported a Mariah Carey T-shirt – and even confirmed that the pair have a collaboration in the works.
When Coyne played Carey’s hit song “Always Be My Baby,” .Paak flashed a cheeky smile before showing off his Mariah merch beneath his black fleece jacket. “This would be Mariah Carey. The Mariah Carey,” he answered upon hearing the popular tune.
.Paak continued, “I remember in like fifth grade or something, watching the music videos and having a huge crush. We’re working on some music on her new album.”
The collaboration comes months after .Paak was seen holding hands with Carey, 56, after accompanying her to the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March 2025. The rumored couple were leaving the Birds Street Cafe in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, at the time.
The spotting came a week after .Paak attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards with Carey on March 17, where she received the icon award. .Paak helped her get onto the stage for her acceptance speech.

“Thank you iHeart for this incredible honor,” Carey said during her acceptance speech. “As a kid, I used to listen to my favorite artist on the radio and dream of being on the airwave myself. Now, for those of you who may not know what airwaves are, think of it as the non-Wifi version of streaming, OK?” Carey joked.
Prior to this sighting, the pair were seen holding hands following Carey’s Christmas tour in December 2024.
.Paak is known for his work in musical duo Silk Sonic alongside Bruno Mars. He additionally has four original solo albums, Venice, Malibu, Oxnard and Ventura. .Paak’s debut album gained further widespread success after his 2016 appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, with the network referring to his episode as “the most popular in the history of the series.”
Carey confirmed that she is working on a new album, but has not disclosed further details at this time, per an April 11 interview with the Associated Press.
