A Delaware woman is in critical condition after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire.
The Delaware State Police responded to a call in the early morning hours of April 20 of a woman in distress in Georgetown, a city located approximately 40 miles south of Dover.
Troopers arrived to find a 44-year-old woman “suffering from severe burns to a large portion of her body,” according to a news release put out by the DSP.
She was rushed to a local hospital where she is still fighting for her life, according to police.
At the same time, the DSP and Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office opened a joint investigation into the matter.

Police say that that over the course of their investigation, they came to learn that the victim had allegedly been fighting that night with her boyfriend, 42-year-old Keith Morrison.
Then, as the fight got more heated, Morrison allegedly “threw an unknown liquid on the victim and set her on fire,” according to the release.

Morrison then fled the home, said police, at which point his girlfriend was left alone and forced to summon help while also trying to put out the fire.
Soon after police had secured the scene and sent the victim to a local hospital, they discovered Morrison hiding out in a nearby field, according to the release.
Morrison was arrested and charged with attempted murder by police, as well as a felony count of arson by the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.
He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,000,000 cash bond, according to court records.
Both police and firefighters say that the investigation into the incident remains open.
